Our Process

Showroom visit – Each Kitchen Classics project begins with your visit to our design center. The Kitchen Classics Design Center, located in Charlotte Harbor, features the largest selection of custom cabinetry and countertops in the area. You will have the opportunity to see the latest in styles, colors and storage options. We will spend some time with you discussing how you cook and live in your kitchen space and the priorities you have for your new kitchen. This is the time to share your ideas, wish lists and pictures. An appointment for this visit is recommended so you can be assured of a block of time with one of our experienced designers.

On site appointment – During our initial visit to your home we will take measurements, look at the general layout and traffic patterns in your living spaces, uncover any possible structural limitations and further discuss your ideas and desires for your new kitchen. Armed with this information, your kitchen designer is ready to get to work on building your dreams.

Initial plan developed and presented – An initial layout is developed based on all you have shared with us and the important clearance, workflow and safety requirements of good kitchen design. Initial cost estimates are also compiled. This initial plan is then presented to you in our showroom so you can get a visual idea of the concepts presented. If you like what you see and feel that the cost estimates are within your budget, we will be ready to proceed to the next step.

Design retainer and revisions until final concept and selections are made – Any additional design work and revisions will require a design retainer. This retainer is not an additional cost. The entire amount will be applied to the final cost of your cabinets. At this stage we will fine tune the design, provide detailed drawings, and discuss all the important details that go into making your dream reality. This is the stage where final product selection is decided upon.

Cabinets and materials ordered – Cabinetry can have a lead time of 4 to12 weeks, depending on the line and the finish you select. While we are waiting for the cabinetry to arrive we will begin to compile any other product necessary to complete the project. We will prepare detailed electrical and plumbing plans, as well as construction drawings for any modifications that may be required. All trades people will be scheduled during this phase.

Once cabinets are in our possession, construction can begin. - Your experienced Kitchen Classics designer will oversee all phases of the project to insure that all of your discussions and plans are followed through on. This is very important and is something most cabinet shops and big box retailers don’t do. Demolition, framing, electrical and plumbing rough ins and drywall work occur before your new cabinets arrive are delivered.

Cabinets delivered and installed – Here is where dreams really start to become reality. Our professional installers will put your new cabinetry in place, paying meticulous attention to every detail. They will work together with your designer to insure your satisfaction.

Countertop template – When your cabinets are installed a representative from one of our countertop contractors will make a template that they will use to construct your new countertops with.

Countertop installed – your new countertop will be ready to install about two weeks after the template. The plumbers and electricians can now return to install fixtures, appliances, switches and lights. Your designer will go through the project with you to develop a punch list of small items that still need to be attended to and times will be scheduled to take care of these final details.
